Data SGP for Educators

Data sgp is a set of aggregated student performance measures like test scores and growth percentiles that can be used by educators to inform instructional decisions, evaluate school/district performance, and support broader research initiatives. It provides a snapshot of a student’s academic progress and compares his or her assessment scores with the average score for students with similar academic backgrounds. It also displays a range of projections that indicate how far a student will need to grow in order to reach proficiency in a given subject.

Educators can access a more detailed version of data sgp by selecting a student in the Star Growth Report and choosing “SGP Data”. The spreadsheet, formatted to easily compare students across grades and subjects, displays the SGP for each student over the past five years. The first column, ID, provides the student’s unique identifier; the following columns, SS_2013, SS_2014, SS_2015, and SS_2016, provide the student’s assessment score for each year, along with their growth percentile compared to other students in the same grade and subject. The sgpData spreadsheet also includes additional information about the student, such as gender and socioeconomic status, which are not available in the SGP summary report.

The data sgp tool is an excellent way for educators to help their students and parents better understand the progress they are making in their learning. It provides insight into how a student’s assessment scores compare with those of his or her peers, which can lead to plans for improving that student’s performance. Data sgp can also be used to identify areas of success and inform educator-developed Student Learning Objectives (SLOs).

SGP analyses convert raw student scores into scaled scores, then compares each student’s historical growth trajectories with projections of where they are likely to be in future years. The sgpData spreadsheet calculates window specific SGPs by comparing the current student’s projection to the previous school year when a report is customized using the Timeframe drop-down menu.

In addition to the sgpData spreadsheet, the SGP package includes an abcSGP and updateSGP function to simplify source code associated with conducting operational analyses. The sgpData_INSTRUCTOR_NUMBER lookup table is used to store instructor details associated with each student’s test record, and higher level functions called sgpSummary and sgpProjections provide an easy-to-use interface for conducting a variety of SGP analyses.

In order to access the most up-to-date SGP data, educators should ensure that their software is fully updated and configured. The SGP package is updated frequently to include new features and bug fixes, and a list of updates can be found at the sgp repository website. Additionally, the sgp documentation, vignettes and examples provide thorough explanations of SGP calculations and processes. For assistance with any questions or concerns, educators can contact the SGP team. We encourage all users to take advantage of these resources before beginning an operational analysis.
