How to Win at Blackjack

Blackjack is a card game in which the object is to collect cards that total as close to 21 as possible without going over. The game is played with one or more 52-card decks, and each card has a value (face cards are worth 10, aces are worth 1 or 11, etc). In addition to the players, there is a dealer who deals two cards to each player and then determines whether to stand (keep their current hand) or hit (request more cards) based on predetermined rules.

When a player has a total of 21 on the first two cards dealt to them, this is called a “natural” or a “blackjack.” A player who gets a natural must immediately pay the dealer one and a half times their original bet. If the dealer also has a natural, then all bets push (win no money) and the dealer takes their original bet back.

Aside from the dealer’s natural, the most common situation in blackjack is to have a hand that totals closer to 21 than the dealer’s. This is accomplished by hitting when the dealer has a weak hand or doubling down on 10s and 11s when the dealer’s face-up card is 9 or lower.

To play blackjack, you must place your bet by touching the wager circle on the bottom of the screen. Wagers, winnings, and credits remaining can be viewed in the bottom left corner of the screen. You can bet up to a maximum of 100 chips.

The dealer will then deal each player two cards, face up. After each player has had a chance to review their cards, they must decide whether to hit (request additional cards) or stand (keep their current hand). Once all players have decided whether to hit or stand, the dealer will reveal his or her face-down card and then either bust or stand according to predetermined rules.
