What is Roullete?
Roullete is a casino game of chance in which players bet on the outcome of a spin of a numbered wheel. Prior to the wheel spinning, people place their chips on a betting mat, with the precise placement of the chip indicating what bet was made. If the ball settles on one of the numbers or colours (red or black) the player wins.
The premise of the game is simple: The dealer spins a roulette wheel, which has a series of compartments numbered 1 to 36 and painted alternately red and black, with an extra green division marked 00 on American tables. The roulette wheel is a solid disc slightly convex in shape and encircled by a bowl-shaped frame with a tilted circular track around its perimeter.
When the dealer announces ‘No more bets!’, players place their chips on the betting layout until the wheel comes to a stop. At this point, the player can either raise their bet or leave it as is for the next spin.
Roulette was likely derived from the Italian game Biribi, with some fanciful tales claiming that it was invented by 17th century French mathematician Blaise Pascal or by Dominican monks. In any event, it was adopted from a number of older games and evolved into its modern form in the 18th century.
When playing, the best way to increase your odds of winning is to make inside bets rather than outside bets. Outside bets are based on groups of numbers and are much more difficult to win than single-number bets, and are more susceptible to the house edge. Players should also familiarize themselves with the different types of bets, and understand the odds of each type before laying any chips.
